NAUI Instructor Training Course (ITC)

Overview & Qualifications

The NAUI Instructor Training Course (ITC) prepares future instructors to confidently and safely teach skin and scuba diving in full compliance with NAUI standards. At YSS Dive, this course goes beyond certification—focusing on leadership, clear communication, and a deep commitment to diver safety and community stewardship.

Course Structure

The ITC can be delivered in two progressive phases:

Phase One – Instructor Training Program (ITP)

• Skill development, leadership exercises, and teaching techniques.
• Practice performances evaluated by at least two qualified NAUI evaluators.
• Offered as an intensive week or an extended internship for scheduling flexibility.

Phase Two – Instructor Qualification Program (IQP)

• All final evaluations conducted under a NAUI Course Director in residence.
• Validates readiness to represent NAUI and YSS Dive as professional educators.

Certification & Professional Privileges

Graduates who meet all course standards earn certification as NAUI Instructors and may apply for active-status NAUI Instructor Membership. Active-status NAUI Instructors are authorized to:

• Independently teach and certify students in NAUI-sanctioned scuba and skin diving courses.
• Conduct NAUI recognition and experience programs.
• Teach and certify NAUI First Aid provider courses upon completing NAUI Training Department requirements.
